A martini glass with Gin Martini made with Sussex dry gin The Chemist

The Gin Martini is a classic cocktail. It's crisp, clean and effortlessly elegant. Our recipe keeps things simple, letting our juniper forward Sussex Dry Chemist Gin take centre stage.

Whether you’re stirring one up for a Friday night in or showing off at your next dinner party, this martini recipe is timeless, easy to make and incredibly sippable.

What you'll need:

Here's how

  1. Add gin and vermouth to a mixing glass filled with ice.

  2. Stir well for around 30 seconds to chill.

  3. Strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass.

  4. Garnish with a twist of lemon zest.

  5. Serve immediately.

Gin martini tips & variations

  • We prefer stirring to preserve the silky texture, but if you like yours shaken, we won’t judge.

  • The Chemist is a Sussex Dry Gin. It's our local take on a London Dry. It’s smooth, earthy and perfectly balanced for this kind of cocktail.

  • Want something different? Why not try our Triple Orange Gin for a citrusy twist on the original.

What makes a good martini?

A good martini starts with great gin. The Chemist is earthy, smooth and balanced, with no added sugar. It's a proper dry gin, made in small batches at our urban distillery in Hove. For best results, use fresh ice (we prefer large ice cubes which melt slowly and won't dilute your drink), quality vermouth and keep your glassware cold.
